2022 – Gallery showing of my pastel and colored pencil piece “Argia at Mystic Seaport” published online in the National Cancer Survivors Day summer exhibit at the Valentine H. Zahn Community Gallery (The Gallery at Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center) in honor of my sister and mother.
This private art show was to honor and support family or a loved one who is a cancer survivor.
Description of entry: My mother is a colon cancer survivor, my sister is almost done with her breast cancer treatments, and I have survived advanced stage nasal polyps that reached my brain and would have become cancer. This sailboat symbolizes freedom to live life in the full, free from illness and disabilities that limit the quality of life of so many cancer patients. The bright colors represent feeling healthy and energetic again with the hope of a bright future. The ship resting at the dock represents my sister's treatment, and recovery is almost complete. Soon the sails will be trimmed (turned into the wind), and she shall sail again!
